THE WOODCUTTER SYNDROME

A woodcutter was deep in the forest working like crazy sawing tree trunks into pieces. A squirrel sat in a tree called down that he looked tired and why was he working so hard. The woodcutter shouted back (without stopping his sawing) that he was behind schedule and needed to work all night to catch up. The squirrel observed to him that his saw was blunt and if he stopped and went to get it sharpened his job would be easier.

The woodcutter replied "I'm too busy for that!"

That story is classic in business life (one could say life !) People are too busy sweating to figure out where they are on the curve and then do something about the next stage. The problem is, rather like the woodcutter, not taking time to freshen up the business or change things that aren't working (but used to) can be damaging. But that's where we come in. We can sharpen the saw without the whole business taking time out.

Every now and again it's good to get some outside help to help get the business back on track, don't keep sweating over the same blunt saw…imagine what a nice shiny new blade would do to that pesky wood!!
